SQC congratulates our Founder and CEO, Michelle Simmons, on being named 2018 Australian of the Year: a recognition of her leadership in quantum computing and a milestone moment for Australian science.
Leveraging decades of pioneering research, Michelle built the only team in the world capable of manipulating individual atoms to build atomically precise devices, placing Australia at the forefront of the global quantum computing race.
This team, now incorporated as SQC, is responsible for world-first achievements including the first single-atom transistor and the narrowest conducting wires in silicon. The founding of SQC in 2017, bringing together government, industry and academia, is itself a testament to the world-leading work that earned Michelle this honour.
